We need better maps
more than ever
The outbreak of Covid-19 has brought much of the world to a standstill. Maps, however, remain crucial. Although many of us have to stay indoors at the moment, improving the map means that we're able to help those at the forefront of the battle against Covid-19.
Join Chris Beddow, a long-time OpenStreetMapper and Solutions Engineer at Mapillary, as he walks us through how to improve OpenStreetMap with the goal of curbing the spread of Covid-19. Chris will use satellite and street-level imagery to enrich the map in Italy and Spain, two of the countries that have been hit the hardest by the outbreak.
Chris will show how to:
- Set up mapping tasks
- Find points of interests (POIs) on the map in order to make them further detailed
- Use different kinds of data to improve the map with information about hospitals, health clinics, and pharmacies
- Validate data that's already in place on the map
- Use tools ranging from Osmose to Pic4Review and MapRoulette to improve the map
Chris will also answer any questions you might have throughout the webinar. This webinar focuses on improving the map in the fight against Covid-19, but you'll be able to use the skills you'll learn to improve the map for any kind of purpose.
***This webinar takes place on April 7, 18:00 CET, when most of Europe and the western hemisphere is awake. We will also do a mapping webinar during the eastern hemisphere's daylight hours. Keep an eye out on our Twitter account for future updates.
